Boston, MA 2012

On Tuesday, we headed up to Boston! On our way, we stopped in Rhode Island. We stopped and got some lunch on the shore.
We got New England Clam chowder. It was delicious!
We got tickets to a Red Sox game. We took the subway into Boston. Caleb had so much fun on the train!
 Fenway Park!
The game was awesome. I am not the biggest baseball fan, but it was super fun.
Steve and his Fenway Frank! He was really disappointed because when I ordered it, I ordered a hot dog. He said I missed my one chance to order a Fenway Frank! haha
It was freezing! We ended up leaving after the seventh inning.
The next day we drove into Boston
Our first stop was at this delicious bakery in Little Italy.
 Yummy!
I loved all the old buildings
We decided to walk the Freedom Trail. It is a trail through Boston that takes you to all the historic sites. Our first stop on the trail was the Old North Church. This is the church were they lite the light when the British were coming.
Outside of the Old North Church
Inside the church
 It was so beautiful.
 Statue of Paul Revere
 The Madsens
 Old Cemetery
 Boston Harbor
Next, we went to the Bunker Hill Monument. This is the site of the first battle in the Revolutionary War.
 View from Bunker Hill.
 Steve and me
The Madsens, they are pretending to sword fight!
We decided to go up to the top of the memorial. We had to climb 294 stairs! That may not seem like a lot, but my legs were shaking afterwards.
 Made it to the top!
 View from the top.
 Little Caleb
There was a crate in the middle of the floor. If you looked through it, you could see to the bottom. Steve dared me to stand on it. It honestly took me five minutes to be brave enough to stand on it. It was so scary!
 Gulp!
We went to the USS Constitution. It is the oldest Navy ship in America!
Caleb loved the ship! At first we told him it was a pirate ship. Then we realized that since he is growing up in the military, he should probably learn to call it a Navy ship.
 We're on a boat!
It honestly felt like a ride at Disneyland or something... it didn't seem real.
 Caleb and a cannon
 Where the soldiers would eat
 Tiny kitchen
 They slept in these slings.
 More sleeping areas
After we went on the ship, Steve decided to finish his lobster tail pastry. A lot of it made it on his face!
 Cobble stone road
 Paul Revere's home
 Samuel Adams
Sign in a gift shop... totally me!
Caleb was super excited about this giant macaroni
I loved downtown! It was so cool. There are all of these old buildings in the middle of modern skyscrapers.
 Old South Meeting House
 Ben Franklin
 Old, cobble stone ally.
 Old Cemetery, right downtown
Old South Meeting House. We walked by it and thought it was cool. Then we realized it is the sight of the Boston Massacre and where the Deceleration of Dependence and was first read to the public. So we went back.
 Sight of the Boston Massacre
They read the Deceleration from that balcony
While we were walking, we saw this court house with a ton of police men blocking off the street. Apparently there was a shooting! We were only a couple blocks away when it happened. Apparently the shooter was aiming at some witnesses of a crime. It wasn't fatal, as far as we know.
 Old church, downtown
 Massachusetts State House
We got tired while we were walking to dinner, so we sat down at a park. Caleb ran around trying to scare the Pigeons. It was so adorable.
 Pretty park
 Yet another church
We took Caleb to a candy store. He was in heaven!
 The Cheers bar!
We took a walk through this adorable neighborhood.
 Loved all the veins.
 So quaint
Lindsay and John want to live here
 Beautiful little garden
 I loved the flower boxes
 Massachusetts State House
 Outside the state house
We stopped and got Boston Creme Pie... so yummy!
Caleb rode the carousal while I stuffed my face
 He was so happy
The next day we went to Harvard Campus on our way out of town.
 Super pretty campus
 Harvard library
Statue of John Harvard. We saw a bunch of people rubbing his shoes, so we rubbed them. Steve looked it up on line, and apparently it is good luck to rub the shoes. BUT! Apparently all the students at Harvard urinate on the statue! It is their way of making fun of the tourists. They are suppose to do it before they graduate. Gross!

Boston was AMAZING. Out of all the places we went, I would want to live there. It is the most beautiful city with so much to do. Yet another city I hope to visit someday soon!
