On May 22nd Steve and I headed down to Florida to visit my sister, Dianna. She has been living there for the last couple of years working on her PhD. I went and visited her three years ago and have been wanting to go back ever since. We decided to take advantage of her living within driving distance and go down and see her. This was a very special trip because this was when Steve and Dianna finally met!
We drove down through Georgia. This was Steve's first time to Atlanta. We stopped and got our tires rotated (we have to take advantage of the big cities!) and went out to lunch. I really love Atlanta.
We arrived to Tallahassee late Tuesday night. We woke up the next morning and Dianna and I went and got pedicures.
After our pedicures, Steve and I headed down to the beach. Dianna had to teach and she insisted that we go without her. We drove out to St George Island. You take the longest bridge to get out to the island. It was super cool.

Steve and the Gulf of Mexico
We stopped and picked up sandwiches to eat at the beach
I love this picture
The most gorgeous beach
Steve hanging out. It was so weird that there were no waves. The water was like a bath tub. It was so amazing.
After we got back from the beach, we went to this cute little ice cream shop. It was delicious!
The next day we went to St Marks Island. We went on a little hike and then walked along the shore.
Dianna brought her roommate's dog with us. She is the sweetest dog!
Steve loved Cheyenne
Cool tree
St Mark's lighthouse
Steve, Di and Cheyenne ventured into the water
Little crab
There are apparently a ton of alligators out there. Luckily we did not see any!
That night we went to a restaurant for happy hour. They had the best martinis! This is the only picture Dianna and I took together.
The Capitol
The next day we went to Walkula Springs. Dianna had to go met with her adviser (the life of a graduate student is very busy!) and insisted we go without her.
We took a boat ride around the spring.
Steve was obsessed with all the Spanish moss in the trees.
Turtles!
Manatee!
After the last picture, my camera died. I learned my lesson to keep an extra battery with me! We saw lots of manatees and even some alligators. Then we went swimming in the spring. It was freezing, but really refreshing.
We decided to stay an extra day so that we could go back to St George with Dianna. It was Memorial Day weekend, so we decided to go to the National Park. I am so glad we did! There was no one around us.
I'm pretty sure that is Dianna out there... it might be a stranger
The next day we drove over to Jacksonville. One of my oldest friends, Jessica, was there visiting her family. We wanted to go to the beach, but after dinner there was a tornado warning so we just went back and hung out at her parents house. It was great to see her! I sure miss her!
The next morning we left Jacksonville and headed home. We got to go home through Savannah and South and North Carolina. It was a beautiful drive.
We decided to stop for lunch in Savannah. It was a gorgeous city!
We picked up lunch and headed into the city to eat it by the river. We turned a corner and suddenly we were on a cobble stone road. It was so cool!

Yummy fish and chips
The weather was terrible. Luckily it cleared up after Savannah.
Magnolia tree! Steve's favorite.
More Spanish Moss
It was Memorial Day and we got stuck in traffic around this cute park.
Cute little houses downtown.
Driving over the bridge, into South Carolina
We had such an amazing trip. Thanks again, Dianna, for having us!!
