Memorial Day in Memphis

Steve is doing great, and had been studying all day, everyday for the COMLEX. On Memorial Day I convinced him to take a couple hours off so that we could go downtown.

We went and got BBQ and then went for a walk along the Mississippi River. We had a great time. It is so gorgeous by the river. We are still searching for the best BBQ! Hopefully we will find it before everyone comes to visit.

My New Job

I had to do volunteer work for my senior capstone project. I decided to try to volunteer at an eating disorder clinic. If I were to get my Master's or PhD, I would want a degree in counseling and I would want to work with adolescents with eating disorders. I decided to try to find volunteer work in my field of interest.

I contacted the only eating disorder clinic in Knoxville and asked them if they had any need for volunteers. The director I spoke to told me they didn't at the time.

A couple of weeks later I received a phone call from the director. She told me something had come up and they needed a volunteer. She asked me to come to Knoxville for an interview.

I went and met with her and we immediately hit it off. She seemed very impressed with me. She asked me what my plans were for after school. I told her that Steve would be starting his rotations and we were hoping to move to Memphis. She told me they had a facility in Memphis and their current office manager was pregnant. They were looking for someone to cover her maternity leave and potentially take over the position. She asked if I was interested. I, of course, said yes!

Well everything worked out perfectly. We got the Memphis rotation cite. The office manager decided to quit, and I was hired for a permanent position! It really was so meant to be.

I started working two weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I only work 25 hours a week. I set my own schedule. And everyone I work with is incredible. I feel honored to be working for such an amazing organization.

So that's what I am up to these days! I am loving it and grateful for how it all worked out.

Goodbye Harrogate!

We moved from Harrogate, TN on May 12th, 2013.The only thing I am really going to miss about living in Harrogate is sitting on my quiet front porch, and enjoying the gorgeous view. Here are some pictures of my lovely view. I realize this probably isn't very interesting...but I want it in our blog book.

The view from my rocking chair.
I will also really miss my gorgeous peaceful tree! It got it leafs back right before we moved.
Green, green, green!
It's hard to see, but between those two sheds is my neighbors dog. I will miss him too! He was the best dog. He was so chill. He would just walk around the neighborhood all day, but always returned home.
My sweet, little porch.
My creepy neighbor's shed. I won't miss the rebel flag.
This is the view from my study window. I earned my degree looking at this view!

Goodbye, Bristol Road!
Although I am so excited to move to Memphis, there is a small part of me that will miss Harrogate. It was our first home, and we had lots of good memories there.

We are also going to miss being so close to family. Luckily, we will obviously see everyone again. But we are going to miss seeing Chasqui grow! He was hard to say goodbye to. We spent Saturday night at Kevin's and when we woke up Sunday morning, Chasqui seemed to know something was going on. He followed me around all morning and was more solemn than he usually is.
Last time playing with Steve for awhile!
 Best of friends
Rick and Holly were nice enough to let us borrow their trailer to move. That thing was packed full. So was our car. We have both decided that our next move we will have no choice but to get a moving van. I'm impressed our little Four Runner survived the drive!
Now we are on to bigger and better things!

Rick's Graduation

Rick graduated from LMU-DCOM on May 11th, 2013. We are both so proud of Rick! especially Steve who spent most of the weekly randomly smiling and saying, "Ricks going to be a doctor!" He sure looks up to Rick.

Waiting for graduation to start!

We took the boys into the hall to let out some energy, and take cute pictures!
Rick's class!

Being hooded! I am sad my camera focused on the banister and not Rick. This is why I am taking a photography class this summer!

Steve got Katie and Brady to both call Rick "Dr. Daddy".

The happy graduate!
Cute kids!
Holly told the kids to say "monkey" and they both screamed it. They are so funny.
We are sure going to miss Rick, Holly, and the kiddos. We wish them the best of luck in California! Love y'all!
