Maine 2012

On Thursday we headed up to Maine. It was a very beautiful drive. We stopped at the coast to experience fresh lobster for dinner.
Steve was very happy

So beautiful
The owners were super nice. And we were the only customers they had there. So he asked Steve if he wanted to hold the biggest lobster they had.
 Steve, of course, said yes!
After dinner, we went to this little shop to get home-made ice-cream. It was delicious!
The next morning Lindsay and John got up and went kayaking. We babysat Caleb while they went. Our plan for the day was to go to Acadia National Park. We stopped in a little town called Bar Harbor which is just outside of the park to wait for John and Lindsay.
Cute little town
The Harbor

We bought Caleb some buckets and other sand toys. He loved playing in the sand. After we bought him the buckets he said, "This is just my lucky day!" He is so funny.
Steve had fun playing too.
Then we went and got lunch. Steve really wanted a Lobster roll.
After we hung out for awhile, we finally got a call from Lindsay and John to meet up with them (I was beginning to worry they were lost at sea!) We met at the visitors center, and then drove into the park. Our first stop was at a beach.

There was a crazy seagull sitting on someones car.
Beautiful, freezing cold beach
This was my first time seeing the Atlantic Ocean! Hooray!

He is so handsome.
Lindsay and John brought their super, fancy camera. John took some great pictures of us!
It was freezing, so I had to  put my sweatshirt back on.
 Sisters!
Poor little Caleb was freezing. Isn't he just the cutest!?
Steve let Caleb borrow his sweatshirt, because I am a terrible aunt and left Caleb's jacket at the hotel!
He enjoyed playing in the sand again.
That night we ate dinner at a great little place in Bar Harbor. Then we went back to the hotel so that I could do some homework. (Have I mentioned I was doing full time school during this entire vacation?!)

The next morning we woke up and went to Cadillac Mountain. Cadillac Mountain is the first peak in the nation to receive day light each morning.
Us and Caleb who didn't want to pose, but wanted to be in the picture.
Fun travel buddies!
 Beautiful views
We probably should have been watching Caleb!
Maine is where we said good-bye to the Madsens. I really cannot thank them enough for all of their help with the trip and allowing us to crash in their hotel rooms. They are the best! Thanks again!!

We left main to drive back to Philadelphia. We decided we wanted to stop in Vermont on our way. We only went about thirty miles in, but it sure was beautiful! And now we can say we have been there.
The East coast is just so beautiful
The Joneses in Vermont
I couldn't get enough pictures of the lake, apparently!
