Philadelphia, PA 2012

On Saturday night we got to Pennsylvania. It was really late so we went straight to bed.

The next morning we woke up and went to Philadelphia.
We got into the city and saw a parade. We walked over and realized it was their Gay-Pride Parade!
Our first stop was to Benjamin Franklin's grave. It is apparently good luck to throw a penny on his grave.
The graveyard were Benjamin Franklin is buried.
 Flower bed graves... strange.
Then we walked over to the Bureau of the Mint
Then we went and saw the Liberty Bell. Pretty amazing.
Under the bell. You can see the crack! Those braces were meant to repair it.
Then we went and saw the original foundation of the President's House, where the president lived before the White House.
Then we went to the Pennsylvania State House
This is where the Deceleration of Independence and the Constitution were both written!
 Old City Hall
Cobble stone road and horse drawn carriages.
This statue is called The Patriot.
Pennsylvania State House
We were early for our tour, so Steve sat down under a tree to wait. It was so hot and our feet were killing us. Our entire trip we had terrible, rainy weather. In Philadelphia it finally warmed up! We were grateful for a sunny day, but it was pretty dang hot.
We finally went inside the State House.
This is where the Constitution was written.
Replica of the chair George Washington sat in.
Then we walked through a park. This is a Unknown Soldier Memorial
The tomb said "Beneath this stone rests a soldier of Washington's army who died to give you liberty".
 The Benjamin Franklin Bridge
We got lunch at a place downtown. We wanted Philly Cheese Steaks. They were pretty good!
After lunch we went to the home of Betsy Ross, where the flag was made. We got there about an hour after it closed! Bummer.
Then we decided to walk on the Ben Franklin bridge. We only walked a little bit. It was a long bridge and our feet hurt.
Then we walked, what felt like a hundred blocks, to get to Logan Square. We saw some pretty buildings on our long walk.
We finally got to Logan Square. We stopped and put our feet in a pool.
 Logan Square Fountain
I was disgusted by the amount of people swimming in the fountain. Turns out there are signs and swimming is the first thing on the prohibited list! I guess it isn't strictly enforced.
 Shakespeare Statue
Museum of Art (aka Rocky steps!)
 Steve and Rocky!
 Rocky steps
Steve and I decided to see if we could run up the steps.
We made it! It really wasn't too hard, but I guess Rocky ran through all of Philly before he ran up the steps.
 Museum of Art
More fountains... and more people swimming. I swear, they need to put in a pool downtown to keep people out of the fountains.
A nice man offered to take a bunch of pictures of us. City of Brotherly Love!
 Beautiful, old building.
We walked through China Town on our way back to the car.
Steve actually lived in Pennsylvania for a summer, selling security systems. We decided to leave the city and go see where he lived. He lived in this building on the top floor.
 The apartments he lived in.
The next day we headed home. We drove through Baltimore. I tried to get some pictures of the Row Homes. They were everywhere!
 Downtown Baltimore
Where the Raven's play. Steve was pretty excited and kept telling me to take pictures. I don't think I have ever heard of the Ravens. Haha
We left Baltimore and were headed to DC when suddenly the DC temple appeared out of no where! I always remember my mom telling me about how cool the DC temple is and how it appears out of no where. I finally got to witness what she was talking about.
While we were on our trip, we became obsessed with going to as many states as we could. We decided to go out of our way to West Virginia, just so we can say we have been there.

Steve in West Virginia!
And then our amazing trip ended. We had such an incredible time! I would highly recommend any of the cities we went to. The East coast is so amazing. If the weather wasn't so awful, I would totally live there forever!
